Do you follow the Ontario Curriculum?
Our fully inspected and accredited Secondary programs follow Ministry of Education standards with respect to instructional hours and Ontario Curriculum requirements. Our Elementary programs follow the Ontario Curriculum with some modifications to individualize instruction to address each student's particular learning gaps.
Yes, we offer After Care from 3:30 – 5:30 each day. After Care is not available on school holidays or half-holidays. There is a $10/hour fee for After Care.
Do you have a lunch program?
Students bring their own packed lunches from home, and are welcome to use the microwave (with supervision) to heat up their lunch. We do not currently have a purchased lunch program.
Do you have a newsletter?
Yes, Brighton Update is published monthly and distributed to parents and students.
We include visual arts and music in our curriculum. We do offer optional French instruction for grades 6, 7 & 8, using the ‘Gesture’ method.
Do students have access to computers?
Yes, all students have opportunities to use computers in the classroom. We have state of the art assistive technology available to all students as needed.
Yes, all students who require assistive technolgy can access our SOLO Literacy Suite from any computer on our network. The SOLO suite has four different components, including word prediction software, a text reader, talking word processor and a sophisticated graphic organizer.
If you contact the office we can provide you with the name of our parent volunteer transportation coordinator.
Can my child receive occupational therapy services or speech and language services at your school?
Brighton works with a private company to provide Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy to students who wish to access these services at school. There is a separate fee charged for these services.
